Afrobeat continues to edge closer to a Grammy award as Davido’s “Blow My Mind” has been sent to the organizers of the 2020 Grammy award for consideration.
According to reports, the hit single which features American R&B singer, Chris Brown has been submitted by RCA for consideration.
Reports also has it that Davido’s 2017 hit single, “Fall”, was also sent in for consideration.

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has reacted to report that he promised to give disqualified Big Brother Naija housemate, Tacha 30 million Naira.
Reports had on a Saturday emerged that the lawmaker made the pledge after Tacha’s disqualification yesterday on his Twitter handle.
Jaycee official blog recalls that Big Brother disqualified Tacha on Friday over act of provocation and violence.
Biggie, who quoted an article from the Big Brother’s rules, said ”You are guilty of physical assault and violence.”
He, therefore, disqualified Tacha from the reality show and issued two strikes to Mercy.
But speaking on his alleged pledge, Dino Melaye said the report was ‘fake.
Alongside a picture of the alleged promise he wrote, “This is a fake account. Not from me.”

Ex-Big Brother housemate, Tacha has released a good will message to her fans following her disqualification from the House, after a biter fight with Mercy in the early hours of yesterday
In her goodwill message, she thanked her fans for sticking with her through thick and thin and expressed her sad feeling for letting them down.
According to Tacha, she let her emotions get the better part of her and she thoroughly regrets her actions. She hopes to improve herself, to become a better person.

Coming out of the Big Brother House disqualified was never my intention. Unfortunately, my weakness played against my strength and cut short what should have been a grand ending, with or without the prize.
I sincerely apologize for every action on my part that led to this point and I take full responsibility for it all.
I am an adult and ought to be in control of my emotions, but I’m human and I failed time and again. Please forgive me. I sincerely wanted to make it, at least to the 99th day.
The fight to be seen and heard takes its toll on everyone of us irrespective of where, when or how it comes. What counts is what we make out of a seemingly ugly situation.
I know I need to work on my emotional health… That’s a fact as I have become conscious of it now. Being on this show has shown me that, I am not just a work in progress but I have the chance to become a better me on all fronts, if I give myself the chance to heal.
And this I promise to give due diligence.
So for what you have been to me, I heard some of you even cried and held vigil for me. I cannot thank you enough. You all became my mother, friends and family and this means so much to me right now. Your prayers, time and resources spent to push me through to this point cannot be quantified in any form, but i sincerely thank you from the depth of my heart.
Against the odds, you all are the reason why I stand and remain hopeful that everything will fall into place, that I can make it through this storm and come out on the sunny side in time.

Jaruma has broken her silence, after it was revealed that she deleted photos of the former BBNaija housemate from her Instagram page.
Jaruma says she never forsook, and gave reasons as to why Tacha’s photos were off her page.
The entrepreneur said she only took out time to analyze the whole situation, and now she’s ready to put all her weight behind Tacha, by supporting her with N50 million.

It’s the end of the road for Tacha after she was disqualified from the big brother reality tv show. This was a sequel to the brouhaha in the Big Brother House earlier today.
Recall that Mercy and Tacha engaged in an altercation earlier today – videos of the duo have been making rounds on social media as fans and viewers of the show pondered the fates of both housemates following their brawl.
According to section 15 of the Big Brother Rule Book, physical altercation are not allowed.
Mercy was issued two strikes from Big Brother.

Irrespective of the duel between Tacha and Mercy earlier today, Big Brother Naija housemate, Mike still seems to be on the spotlight as award winning actress and producer of ‘Jenifa’s diary’, Funke Akindele has taken to her twitter to commend him for his gentility.
Recall that Mike recently had an argument with Tacha, and during the course of the argument, Tacha rained insults on him and pushed him aside, an action which could have caused a negative reaction from Mike.
Rather than attacking Tacha for her misdemeanor, Mike chose to ignore the ranting housemate, a decision which portrayed the nature of a true gentle man.
His wife had also commended him for the manner which he handled the situation.
Her post read;
‘Life is a teacher and there are people that will always test you just to get the reaction they’re looking for. Thing is it’s how you react that shows true CHARACTER & what makes you the BIGGER person. .
In my husbands defence which I had no doubts about, he handled himself well with composure as always because he was raised to be a true gentleman!’
His mother’s goodwill message to fans and well wishes cannot be left out too. Few days ago, Mike’s mother had also praised her son for being a role model and a great son to her.
Just today, Funke Akindele voiced out her opinion on the housemate via her twitter platform, calling him the definition of a true gentleman and also revealing that she’s learning alot from him

Over the summer, actor and comedian Eddie Murphy made headlines when, in his episode of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee , he said he was willing to do stand-up again.
“I’m gonna do it again,” he said. “You know, everything has to be right. I gotta get up there and start working out.”
Now, in a New York Times interview promoting his upcoming Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name , Murphy has opened up about his forthcoming comedy special with the streaming giant.
Before we get to that, thought, it’s important to note how bemused Seinfeld was on Comedians in Cars . Murphy hasn’t performed stand-up comedy in any significant way for several decades. What’s more, the Saturday Night Live alum also gave up on ever appearing on, let alone hosting, the vaulted variety sketch show again. The Shrek films and a handful of unsuccessful comedies notwithstanding, it seemed he was no longer interested in the genre.
Then, in 2015, Murphy made up with Lorne Michaels and SNL for the show’s 40th anniversary special. Four years later, in December, he will guest host an episode for its upcoming 45th season – his first such appearance on the program since his reign there in the mid-80s. Add to this a previous TMZ report claiming that Netflix was negotiating a deal worth $70 million for a new comedy special, and Murphy’s occasional comments about it since then, and voilà! A comedy comeback is born.
But what will it look like?
Well, if you’re a fan of Murphy’s Delirious and Raw specials, don’t expect the same kind of biting (or “ignorant,” as he calls it now) humor about women, gay men, and the AIDS crisis – all of which he has since apologized for.
“I was a young guy processing a broken heart, you know, kind of an *sshole,” he told NYT of his early stand-up. “I’m mushier than I used to be.”
Even so, that Murphy’s comedic sensibilities have changed in the decades since Delirious and Raw took the nation (and the world) by storm doesn’t necessarily mean his new material won’t court controversy. On the contrary, when asked about the SNL ’s hiring and firing of Shane Gillis – within the context of so-called “cancel culture” and comedy’s responses to it, vis-à-vis Dave Chappelle and Bill Burr ’s latest specials – Murphy stood his ground.
“I went through all that stuff, so this is not scary,” he explained. “All this stuff they are talking about: ‘Hey, welcome to the club.’”
Comedy fans who remain skeptical of the complaints levied against Chappelle, Burr, and other comedians like them (e.g. male, in industry positions of power) shouldn’t expect Murphy to count himself among their ranks entirely, though. The 58-year-old performer considers himself a family man more than anything, so if the folk knowledge that comics do what they know holds true, then audiences can count on a much more personable take from Murphy.
“I now have a whole lifetime of experiences to draw upon,” he teased. “I’m not at the center. Now my kids are and everything revolves around them.”

Academic activities have commenced at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, in Osun State, after a sudden closure on September 10.
PREMIUM TIMES reported how the school was shut amid a rift between a lecturer, Francis Adeoye, and the Students’ Union President, Lukman Rufai.
The closure came amid protests from students to stop any plan to rusticate Mr Rufai.
With the reason omitted, the Registrar, O.A Ogunleye, in a memo obtained by this paper, noted that the decision to reopen the school was made after a meeting of the academic board held the same day.
Nonetheless, this paper learnt that the second semester examination of the school earlier scheduled for last Monday, started on Wednesday.
There were also various attempts to placate the aggrieved parties.
Background
On July 29, Mr Rufai ordered the deflation of the tyres of a car belonging to the academic staff, claiming he violated a ‘No Parking’ order and it was an attempt to stop the recurring cases of accidents on that road.
However, the action did not go down well with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) branch chairman in the school, Nurudeen Masopa, who found the act disrespectful.
Although Mr Rufai was warned to desist from such acts following the recommendation of an adhoc committee set up to investigate the case, ASUP members threatened to withdraw their services if the case is not transferred to the Students’ Disciplinary Committee (SDC).
The panel recommended that a warning be issued to both Messrs Rufai and Masopa and that was communicated in a letter dated August 22.
The union stated that the SDC the only statutory committee saddled with the responsibility of hearing such cases.
Meanwhile, on September 10, the students, who assembled in their numbers, were ready to protest a ‘planned’ rustication of Mr Rufai by the panel.
Some students who spoke with this newspaper on the condition of anonymity pitched their tent with their president saying he was being victimised.
While Mr Rufai said “the lecturers’ union wanted to intimidate him because of his moves to curb sexual harassment against female students by lecturers”, Mr Masopa told PREMIUM TIMES about the ‘highhandness’ of the student leader, demanding for justice for his colleague.
Mr Masopa clarified that against the students’ clamour, the union never prescribed a punishment for the management or the panel.
Attempts to settle scores
Ahead of the resumption of Wednesday, PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the Chairman of the polytechnic’s governing council, Nasir Musa, met with ‘stakeholders’ to salvage the situation.
Speaking with this correspondent on Wednesday, Mr Masopa explained that the union accepted the resumption because the SDC had concluded its investigation and the report has been submitted to the management.
He said he got the ‘permission’ of the members after a congress held two days to the resumption date.
The union leader however stated that the agreement was sealed on the basis that the report of the committee will be implemented.
“The Chairman said the boy (Rufai) should apologise and we all agreed that the report of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee be implemented. We have started the examination today and our members have resumed work,” he said.
Not convinced
On the other hand, Mr Rufai claims that the union is still hell-bent on his rustication. He disclosed this in an interview with this newspaper on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the school, Sola Lawal, told PREMIUM TIMES that the matter has been laid to rest.
“To the best of my knowledge, the case has been resolved amicably and accordingly. It is more or less a family affair. The union just have to forge forward and forget about any settlement or no settlement. The matter has been resolved,” he said on Wednesday evening.
When asked about the implementation of the report, which ASUP demanded, he did not respond directly.
“It is a case of ‘no victor, no vanquished’. It has been an age-long tradition for us to resolve our differences in a unique way,” he responded, evading the question.
